Getting to Pueblo Verde by plane
Pueblo Verde is located just outside the small town of Paraiso, (Spanish for “paradise”) in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. Pueblo Verde is a 3.5 hour drive from the capital city of San Jose and less than an hour away from the Daniel Oduber International Airport in nearby Liberia thanks to a newly paved road.
Nearly every major airline flies to San Jose and United, American, Continental, Delta, and US Airways all have direct flights in to Liberia. Connections to the area by taxi, bus or car rental are available at the airport.
There are also regularly scheduled domestic flights in to the nearby Tamarindo airport which is a 30 minute drive from Pueblo Verde.

Getting to Pueblo Verde by car
From San Jose
Take the Interamerican Highway from San Jose. Forty-seven kilometers (29 miles) past the turnoff from Puntarenas, you’ll see signs and the turnoff for the new Tempisque River bridge. After crossing the bridge, you should follow the signs for Nicoya and Santa Cruz. Right after the main intersection in Santa Cruz, you will cross over a small bridge and see a marked turnoff to the left for Playa Junquillal, Ostional and Tamarindo. Take that left and follow the signs to Playa Junquillal and you will reach Pueblo Verde and the town of Paraiso in just under 30 km (18 miles). You can also take a taxi from the San Jose Airport for about $150 (3 ½ hour ride) From Liberia
Make a right out of the airport and follow signs to Santa Cruz. There will be a green sign indicating a right hand turn towards the beaches. This will be directly before a small bridge approximately 1 km before Santa Cruz. Make the right and follow signs directing you towards the Iguanazul and Hacienda Pinilla. You will pass through several small towns before arriving at Pueblo Verde. 1 km before reaching the town of Paraiso you will see signs for Pueblo Verde and the El Centro Verde agroecology center on your right. If you reach the town center of Paraiso you have gone too far.
How can I get to Pueblo Verde without a car?

Fly into Liberia on an international flight and take a taxi from the airport to Pueblo Verde which will cost about US $60 (US).

Take a taxi from the San Jose airport to the community. It is a 3.5 hour ride that will cost you about $150. Fly from the International airport to Tamarindo.

This flight leaves four times a day, lasts about 50 minutes, and costs $65 one-way. From Tamarindo, you will need to grab a cab. The 40 minute ride costs approximately $45.

Take a bus from San Jose to Santa Cruz. This 4 ½ hour ride will cost you approximately $7. Once in Santa Cruz you can connect with a local bus out to the beach or you can take the 30 minute taxi ride for about $20.
