 Guanacaste is different. The sometimes-stark beauty of a rugged landscape enfolds a distinct and hardy culture.The terrain and biodiversity are products of local events such as tectonic uplift and opposing climatic influences from the oceans as well as a mix of plant and animal migrants from both north and south. In the cultural realm, colonization, immigration and isolation from the Central Valley have molded the mindset and mannerisms of ‘Guanacastecos’.
Beyond the abundant natural wonders, the excitement of village fiestas and the colorful costumes of traditional dances one encounters a culture that has deep roots in the land. Pueblo Verde is built on a foundation of respect for and strong ties to this aspect of local culture. It is our vision to incorporate local wisdom related to food production and self-sufficiency and to constantly blend in new techniques and knowledge from other areas with the goal of increasing sustainability and ensuring a more livable future. |
