Hatchlings in Pueblo Verde
from Ann Marie Titsworth, Lot #2
New hatchlings were recently born on our lot. Admittedly, this natural wonder has lost some of its excitement for us since our five female ducks are such regular and successful broody sitters. Newborn ducklings still melt our hearts but today we discovered two ground-dove hatchlings in a miniature (and not altogether sturdy-looking) nest near our house.
These hatchlings look only a few days old and are about half the size of a newborn duckling; but, hopefully, soon they’ll be two more little doves foraging among the ducks and chickens in our yard.
