When it’s too hot to move…
From Ann Marie Titsworth, Lot #2
This time of year, each day is a new struggle to keep cool in the peak of the dry season heat. We imagine that the occasional, quick brown-outs around 11am signal the electrical grid making adjustments to power those homes and buildings with air conditioning.
We designed our house so that A/C would not be necessary: high ceilings, a clerestory for air flow, ceiling fans, and as much window (screen) space as our builder said the frame would allow.
Ten months a year it works like a charm but in March and April it still gets pretty hot.
Here’s how our dogs – and now cat – deal with the heat:
So, whether you lie on a cool floor all day or head to the beach to cool off, turns out you can survive the heat without A/C.
